CCN 2024

I attended Cognitive Computational Neuroscience 2024 in Cambridge, Massachusetts — my first conference in this field, and I went purely as an attendee, a few weeks before starting my master’s at UT Austin.

CCN sits at exactly the intersection I had been circling as an undergrad: people who build models of the brain and people who study brains as computational systems, in the same room, frequently disagreeing. Coming from a statistics and CS background, the useful shock was how much of the interesting work was methodological — how you compare a model to neural data at all, and what it means when the comparison comes out favorably.

I left with a much clearer sense of what I wanted the next two years to look like, and a reading list I am still working through.
